Mr Philip Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Contemporary, Acrobats
Philip Durkee began dancing at the age of four. He became interested in dance through observing his three older sisters (one being Miss Laura) in dance class and watching them perform on stage. He grew up dancing at D/D Productions, where he became active in competitive dance and tumbling for 14 years, served as a helper & teaching assistant, and eventually became an instructor in tap, jazz, lyrical/contemporary, and tumbling. Philip has taught both recreational and competitive classes over the past 18 years, with several winning routines at the regional and national level. He taught the very first year at MLSD before moving out of state, but has continued to choreograph routines for the competition team while he was away. He was a member of the Ashleyliane Dance Company in St. Louis for 3 years where he continued to train in ballet, jazz, modern and contemporary dance. He is thrilled to be back in Peoria and teaching the students of MLSD once again!
